VISIT GLASGOW IN UNDER 12 HOURS

A close friend of ours came around from Manchester for the day came to Glasgow (with his friend from France), so I planned a day of fun to show them around the city. Glasgow is a lovely city, but it isn't as touristy as many others and they were not really excited to see the city, which of course, destroyed my soul. I had less than 12 hours to change his mind.

We took them to the south side first, trying to show them the not so popular side of town. Also, I’d been there last night for the Strathbungo winter wanderland street festival which was an incredible community event. We started off the day by grabbing a coffee from the The Glad Café.

This Southside café is a perennial classic, covering all the bases with great coffee and equally good food, baked goods, beer on tap, a constantly-changing art selection on the walls, and frequent film screenings, plays, and performances by local musical guests. This is a haven for Glasgow’s creative folk, and is the perfect place to sip some coffee and immerse yourself in artistic pursuits.

Next stop, we headed to the West End! Bustling with old city charm, I wanted to show them that there are spots within this city that you can escape into especially coming from big cities like Manchester or Paris, I thought they would really appreciate Glasgow’s most instagrammable part of town. We headed to the Kelvingrove museum to have a quick peek! We didn't have to see all of it (it's massive) but my friends did appreciate the floating heads in the foyer – they're one of my favorites, taking the time to appreciate each expression.

We also quickly stopped by to feed the squirrels at Kelvingrove park. They are big fans of nature and nobody can really say they had a bad time feeding a squirrel, right?!!!

Last stop, the most important one! Lunch. We checked out some reviews and decided to a restaurant called The Gannet in Finneston. It’s a restaurant that specializes in small plates. On a Sunday, they had 3 courses with a glass of Champagne for £30. A. The food at The Gannet is exceptional – most of it was consistently amazing but my favorite was the Scotch beef diamond fillet. Slightly on the pricy end but worth it if you have people coming to town!

Yep, a lot of our day revolved around eating and drinking – but that's the kind of people we are. Glasgow is such a wonderful city to visit and of course, there's SO much to do that it's hard to squeeze everything in. Towards the end of the evening, we were stuffed and just decided to walk around and catch up. But they LOVED the short day I had planned & did promise to be back soon, which I consider a win!

What are your favorite places to take people when they visit Glasgow?
